Tuesday's open Bluefin trip was a success! Within minutes of putting the boat on a drift Adam Cohen,14, was hooked up with his first tuna ever. After about 10 minutes the fish spit the jig. Adam went right back to it and twenty minutes later was fighting another bluefin. This time the fish was subdued and in the box as our under fish. A solid 30 pound bluefin taken on a 10 oz. hammered diamond jig. Pete, jigmaster Ziemba, was aboard and soon had his first fish of the day. The green metallic sardine he likes to use was bit and after a good battle our over fish was boxed, a 55 pound 49" fish. Adam's brother Sam had a tuna grab a whiting and he was now into his first ever tuna, a 43" bluefin. All in all, the group went 5 for 13 on the bites with 2 of the 5 on bait. Fishing for Bluefin is looking up! We put Mike Tumolo and friends into a great day with fish up to 80 pounds all on jigs. The group went 7 for 16 loosing a couple of bigger fish after lengthy fights. All the action is on jigs! We still have some spots on this Tuesday Aug 31 open trip
Blues are biting well! Big fish 8 -12 pounds is the rule. Thursday was very good with limits all around, Friday was tough, but Saturday was back to good fishing. Last night I was on the Queen Mary and we had beat them up fishing after dark. |

TOday I was again at the helm of the Queen Mary. The fishing was not as productive as yesterday, but by the end of the day many had an OK catch. Big blues were the rule again today and Florida Frank ended up with 5 and Jersey Frank had 7, Mike from Baltimore drove in and was not disappointed and was high hook with 8. All the fish were caught on bait under tough conditions with the lines going straight down. On the tuna front some bluefin have been caught offshore in the 50 -65 miles range and we will be trying to get a boat together for Tuesday Aug 31 $350 per person leave 3:30am return late afternoon |
